Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri, The Post e The Shape of Water in testa alle nominations per i Golden Globes

Tre film in testa alle nominations per i Golden Globes, che verranno consegnati il prossimo 7 gennaio: The Shape of Water di Guillermo Del Toro con 7 candidature, Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri di Martin McDonagh e The Post di Steven Spielberg con 6 candidature ciascuno.

Due dei tre arrivano direttamente dal concorso veneziano. E’ un altro grande colpo di Alberto Barbera.

Dietro di loro la commedia Lady Bird di Greta Gerwig con 4, mentre a 3 nominations ci sono Call Me By Your Name di Luca Guadagnino, che manca tuttavia le categorie di miglior regista e migliore sceneggiatura, Dunkirk di Nolan, I, Tonya di Gillespie, All the money in the world di Ridley Scott e The Greatest Showman.

Christopher Plummer con 10 giorni di riprese a cavallo del Thanksgiving, in sostituzione di Kevin Spacey, conquista la candidatura tra gli attori non protagonisti.

I grandi sconfitti? Certamente l’idea balzana di Wonder Woman come uno dei migliori film della stagione, esclusa dalle nominations così come la commedia The Big Sick. Poca fortuna anche per Phantom Thread, che ha ricevuto recensioni stellari e ancora deve uscire negli USA, con solo due candidature, per Daniel Day Lewis e per la colonna sonora, Scappa – Get Out, che deve accontentarsi di due citazioni, e The Florida Project di Sean Baker, il più piccolo degli indipendenti, che conquista solo una nomination per Willem Dafoe.

Tra i film stranieri, Angelina Jolie con il suo film sulla Cambogia, sfiderà i pesi massimi di Cannes, The Square e Loveless.

Da segnalare, piuttosto a sorpresa, la nomination a Helen Mirren per The Leisure Seeker di Paolo Virzì.

Se ragioniamo in termini produttivi/distributivi, la Fox ha raccolto ben 27 candidature di cui 15 con la sussidiaria Fox Searchlight. Al secondo posto Sony con 12 di cui 6 con la Sony Pictures Classics e terza la piccola A24 con 7.

Il risultato è ancor più clamoroso se si pensa che l’intera divisione cinematografica della 20th Century Fox, una delle major storiche di Hollywood fondata per fusione nel 1934,  è sul mercato e alla fine della settimana potrebbe essere acquistata dalla Disney, creando un gruppo cinematografico dalle dimensioni gigantesche: nel 2016 sommando la quota di mercato di entrambe si arriva al 42%, nel 2017 sinora siamo al 38%, ma la Disney deve ancora giocarsi Star Wars…
