E’ stato presentato alla stampa da pochissime ore e già The Post, il nuovo film di Steven Spielberg, ha dominato i premi della National Board of Review, conquistando quelli per il miglior film ed i due migliori attori protagonisti.
Il film racconta l’inchiesta giornalistica del New York Times e del Washington Post che nel 1971 pubblicarono documenti trafugati dalla difesa, sulla Guerra del Vietnam, che furono determinanti per cambiare la prospettiva dell’opinione pubblica sul conflitto.
Greta Gerwig a sorpresa ha vinto per la migliore regia con l’esordio Lady Bird, mentre Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project) e Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird) si sono affermati come i migliori non protagonisti.
Le migliori sceneggiature del’anno sono quelle di Phantom Thread di Paul Thomas Anderson, anch’esso appena mostrato alla stampa, e di The Disaster Artist, il film di James Franco su Tommy Wiseau, scritto dalla coppia Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber.
Miglior film straniero è l’israeliano Foxtrot, l’animazione è Coco, il doc Jane.
Stranamente snobbati quasi tutti i film della Fox, dal Leone d’Oro The Shape of Water sino al bellissimo Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri.
