Nella messe di nominations e premi, in corso di assegnazione negli Stati Uniti, abbiamo letto molte cose che ci sono piaciute poco. Le associazioni sono state spesso incapaci di valorizzare alcuni straordinari lavori indipendenti.
Soprattutto il sindacato attori, il più affidabile come anticipazione dei futuri premi Oscar, è sembrato adagiarsi su candidature facili, glamour, conservatrici a dir poco, senza comprendere le grandi novità dell’anno: da Michael Fassbender a Ryan Gosling, dal ciclone Jessica Chastain a Michael Shannon.
La Online Film Critics Society, che raccoglie i critici che scrivono per testate internet ha invece lavorato egregiamente.
The tree of life fa la parte del leone con 7 candidature, seguito da Drive con 6, The Artist e The Descendants con 4. Indovinate e coraggiose le scelte di Von Trier e Kristen Dunst, della coppia di Shame e di quella di Martha Marcy Mae Marlene, di Gary Oldman per La tampa, di A separation tra le migliori sceneggiature, oltre che come miglior film straniero e dei due documentari di Werner Herzog, oltre a quelli di James Marsh ed Errol Morris.
