Subito dopo le nominations agli Oscar, la lunga stagione dei premi americani ci ha servito i Critics Choice Awards, assegnati in diretta televisiva dalla Broadcast Film Critics Association, la più grande associazione americana che riunisce critici televisivi, radiofonici e web.
E’ Boyhood a vincere i premi più importanti: miglior film, regia, attrice non protagonista e attore rivelazione. Molte sorprese anche rispetto agli Oscar: Lego Movie ha vinto tra le animazioni, pur essendo stato snobbato agli Academy Awards, lo stesso è accaduto con The Turist/ Force Majeure che si è imposto come miglior film straniero, con Life Itself di Steve James premiato come miglior doc, con Gillian Flynn, premiata per l’adattamento di Gone Girl, con Stephen Mirrione per il montaggio invisibile di Birdman e con Antonio Sanchez per la straordinaria colonna sonora live del film di Inarritu.
Segno evidente di una stagione un po’ confusa, senza trionfatori annunciati.
I migliori attori sono Julianne Moore e Michael Keaton.
