Il sindacato scrittori ha annunciato le migliori sceneggiature dell’anno, originali e adattate da materiale precedentemente edito.
Le regole severissime della WGA consentono di nominare solo opere di scrittori iscritti, che abbiano lavorato rispettando le prescrizioni sindacali.
Per questo motivo, molti film erano ineleggibili, a partire da Django Unchained di Quentin Tarantino. Esclusi illustri sono stati anche: Les Misérables, Amour, Anna Karenina e Beasts of the Southern Wild.
