Il sindacato degli sceneggiatori, la Writers Guild of America, ha scelto i migliori copioni dell’anno, scirtti naturalmente non solo da loro associati, ma secondo le rigide regole imposte dell’associazione.
Ad esempio The Lobster, Florence Foster Jenkins e Lion non erano nominabili, perchè gli sceneggiatori non sono membri della WGA.
C’è inoltre da considerare che per le regole – diverse – dell’Academy i copioni di Moonlight e Loving sono considerati adattamenti e non sceneggiature originali, pertanto qualora dovessero essere nominati all’Oscar, avranno una diversa collocazione.
Ci sono quindi ancora speranze per Jackie e Captain Fantastic, esclusi dal lotto delle migliori sceneggiature originali.
