Nella stagione dei premi più lunga di sempre, diluita in quasi cinque mesi, è arrivato il momento del sindacato sceneggiatori, la Writers Guild of America, che ha scelto le migliori sceneggiature dell’anno, ovviamente tra quelle che hanno rispettato i rigidissimi criteri imposti dal sindacato.
Non erano candidabili infatti Nomadland, Minari, Mank, The Father, Pieces of a Woman e Soul, tra gli altri.
Curioso che la WGA abbia tuttavia ignorato molti dei film indie della stagione, come First Cow o Mai raramente a volte sempre.
