Dopo aver abbandonato l’idea di girare i sequel di Millennium – Uomini che odiano le donne, con David Fincher, Rooney Mara e Daniel Craig, la Sony ha deciso di puntare direttamente all’adattamento del nuovo romanzo, scritto da David Lagercrantz con i personaggi inventati da Stieg Larsson, Quello che non uccide, edito in italia da Marsilio nel 2015.
Fede Alvarez è stato chiamato alla regia, dopo il suo notevole horror Don’t Breathe (Man in the Dark) ed anche il cast è stato interamente rinnovato: Claire Foy (The Crown, Unsane) sarà Lisbeth Salander e Sverrir Gudnason (Borg McEnroe) il giornalista Mikael Blomkvist.
Nel cast ci saranno anche Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Claes Bang (The Square), Vicky Krieps (Il filo nascosto), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out) e Stephen Merchant (Logan).
The next chapter in the Millennium movie series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web follows Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist as they investigate a story that involves spies, cybercriminals, and government operatives – some willing to kill to protect their secrets.
