Chernobyl, Game of Thrones e Fleabag vincono gli Emmy 2019

A vederla da questa parte dell’oceano, gli Emmy Awards consegnati ieri sera, sono stati il regno dell’ovvio. Gli show che si sono imposti per la miglior serie drammatica, la miglior serie comica e la miglior miniserie sono quelle che tutti attendevano.

Game of Thrones, Fleabag e Chernobyl hanno vinto senza storia.

La miniserie sul disastro ucraino del 1986 era senza avversari ed ha vinto meritatamente come miglior serie, per la regia e la sceneggiatura.

I premi copiosamente piovuti invece sul Trono di Spade di Benioff e Weiss per l’ultima debolissima stagione suonano un po’ come un premio complessivo. L’unico tra gli attori ad imporsi ancora è stato Peter Dinklage, al suo quarto Emmy per il ruolo di Tyrion Lannister. Non vi suona un po’ pleonastico?

E’ altresì la quarta affermazione per Il trono di spade come miglior serie drammatica: ha così agguantato in testa alla classifica di sempre Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, Mad Men e The West Wing, tutti vincitori per quattro volte.

Poche sorprese e poche scosse. Più interessanti invece i premi agli attori. Jodie Comer ha battuto Sandra Oh per Killing Eve (e ci mancherebbe…), mentre Billy Porter si è imposto per Pose. Michelle Williams per Fosse/Verdon era francamente imbattibile, così come il suo partner Sam Rockwell, ma solo la prima è riuscita a vincere. Rockwell si è visto scippare il premio di miglior attore da Jharrel Jerome per il notevolissimo When They See Us di Ava Du Vernay, che tuttavia non brilla per le singole interpretazioni, in una storia assolutamente corale.

Inutile il premio a Bandersnatch come miglior tv movie: si tratta di uno degli episodi minori di Black Mirror, sia pure uno dei più visti.

Nelle comedy series Veep e Mrs Maisel mollano il colpo e Fleabag di Phoebe Waller-Bridge si porta a casa quasi tutti i premi: miglior serie, miglior attrice, miglior regia e migliore sceneggiatura.

Agli altri restano le briciole: Bill Hader tuttavia vince come miglior attore per Barry.

Complessivamente la HBO si conferma leader, ma è tallonata da Netflix, che pur senza vincere alcuno dei premi maggiori, è seconda per numero di statuette tecniche, lasciando il terzo posto ad Amazon Prime, che pure ne ha vinte di più nella serata di gala di ieri sera.

Disastrosi i numeri dei network tradizionali: ABC, NBC e CBS assieme non arrivano ad un terzo dei premi vinti dalla HBO.
