Sundance 2016: trionfo di The Birth of a Nation

The Birth of a Nation

E’ The Birth of a Nation, il film scritto, diretto e interpretato da Nate Parker e dedicato alla rivolta degli schiavi guidati dal predicatore Nat Turner, prima della Guerra Civile il vincitore del Sundance Film Festival.

Il titolo, evidente richiamo al controverso e seminale film di David Wark Griffith, che esaltava le gesta del KKK, ha sbancato sia il premio del pubblico, sia quello della giuria.

Il film è stato acquistato per una cifra record, 17,5 milioni di dollari dalla Fox Searchlight, che lo lancerà con una compagna simile a quella già utilizzata per 12 anni schiavo, puntando forte sui prossimi premi Oscar.

Il Sundance assegna moltissimi riconoscimenti, divisi per categorie, distinguendo film americani e provenienti dal resto del mondo.
