Questa mattina Carlo Chatrian, neo direttore della Berlinale, ha annunciato i 18 titoli del concorso ufficiale della 70° edizione, che si terrà dal 20 febbraio al 1 marzo 2020, con Jeremy Irons presidente di giuria.
Tra questi, due italiani: Volevo nascondermi di Giorgio Diritti con Elio Germano nei panni del pittore Ligabue e Favolacce dei fratelli Damiano & Fabio D’Innocenzo, anch’esso con Elio Germano.
Da segnalare anche The Woman Who Ran del coreano Hong Sangsoo, nuova collaborazione con la musa e compagna Kim Minhee, Delete History del duo Delépine-Kervern, First Cow di Kelly Reichardt, che già Venezia avrebbe voluto a settembre, Irradiated del cambogiano Rithy Panh, The Salt of Tears di Philippe Garrel, Days del venerabile Tsai Ming-Liang, The Roads Not Taken di Sally Potter con Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Salma Hayek, Laura Linney.
E poi ancora Siberia di Abel Ferrara con Willem Dafoe e Undine di Christian Petzold con la stessa coppia de La donna dello scrittore, Paula Beer e Franz Rogowski.
Onestamente il lavoro di Chatrian segna già una netta discontinuità rispetto a quello molto deludente degli ultimi anni. Poi sarà la qualità dei film a fare la differenza…
Fuori concorso nelle Berlinale Special, il Pinocchio di Garrone, un doc su Hillary Clinton, Onward della Pixar, un nuovo doc di Jia Zhangke, Swimming Out Till The Sea Turns Blue, Charlatan di Agnieszka Holland.
