Attaccato dal Presidente Trump e da Fox News sulla base di un trailer, che ne annunciava l’uscita nell’imminenza delle stragi di Dayton and El Paso, il nuovo horror della Blumhouse, scritto da Damon Lindelof e diretto da Craig Zobel, The Hunt, ci riprova a distanza di sei mesi.
Uscirà il 13 marzo negli Stati Uniti e forse anche nel resto del mondo.
Ispirato a The Most Dangerous Game, secondo Jason Blum non ha nulla a che fare con le stragi ed è stato manipolato e utilizzato dalla destra conservatrice come diversivo, per continuare a non parlare della necessità di approvare leggi sul controllo delle armi, scaricando le colpe, come spesso accade, sull’immoralità di Hollywood.
Ci avevano provato anche con Joker, ma la risposta del pubblico è stata travolgente.
“It was read as a satire, no different from ‘Joker’ or other movies that are violent. It was read as a movie that didn’t take sides.”
Secondo Lindelof: “The audience is smart enough to know that what they’re seeing is a satire and it’s preposterous. For us there was just a fundamental frustration that nobody was talking about the movie. They were all talking about what their perception of the movie was–a perception that was largely formed based on all the events in the aftermath of the horrific weekend before. [But] we really don’t want to be pointing fingers, and more importantly, we don’t want to be wagging fingers at anyone for overreacting or reacting incorrectly. We just felt like the movie was being misunderstood.”
