Dopo il successo di Winter’s Bone – Un gelido inverno, che conquistò 4 nominations all’Oscar compresa la prima per l’allora quasi sconosciuta protagonista, Jennifer Lawrence, Debra Granik si era eclissata per otto lunghi anni.
Al Sundance ha portato però il suo nuovo film, Leave No Trace, che ha fatto sensazione e che vedremo a Cannes, alla Quinzaine.
Tratto da romanzo di Peter Rock, My Abandonment, adattato assieme ad Anne Rosellini, il film è un racconto padre-figlia, ambientato nelle foresta dell’Oregon.
Will (Ben Foster) and his teenage daughter, Tom (Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie), have lived off the grid for years in the forests of Portland, Oregon. When their idyllic life is shattered, both are put into social services. After clashing with their new surroundings, Will and Tom set off on a harrowing journey back to their wild homeland. The film is directed by Debra Granik from a script adapted by Granik and Anne Rosellini.
