La National Society of Film Critics, fondata nel 1966 e con sede a New York, riunisce 61 tra i maggiori critici americani (da Roger Ebert a Todd McCarthy, da David Denby a Owen Gleiberman, da Kenneth Turan e Richard Corliss) di tutti i principali quotidiani e setimanali del paese.

Questi sono i premi assegnati ai migliori film ed intepreti dell’anno.

Si impone Melancholia di Lars Von Tier per un voto su The tree of life. Terrence Malick è il miglior regista, Brad Pitt e Kirsten Dunst i migliori attori protagonisti. Jessica Chastain e Albert Brooks i migliori non protagonisti.

Una separazione è il miglior film straniero e la migliore sceneggiatura dell’anno. Il miglior documentario è Cave of the forgotten dreams di Werner Herzog. La migliore fotografia è quella di “Chivo” Lubeski per The tree of life.
