La 20th Century ha affidato a Kenneth Branagh il compito di riportare sullo schermo per la terza volta il detective Hercule Poirot.
Dopo Assassinio sull’Orient-Express e Assassinio sul Nilo, la terza avventura sarà tratta da uno degli ultimi romanzi della Christie, Poirot e la strage degli innocenti (Hallowe’en Party in originale), uscito nel 1969.
Il film si intitolerà invece A Haunting in Venice con un riferimento italiano che nel libro non c’era.
Nel cast ci saranno, oltre allo stesso Branagh, Jamie Dornan e Jude Hill, i due protagonisti di Belfast, con Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, Kelly Reilly, Emma Laird, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Ali Khan, e Riccardo Scamarcio.
Secondo Branagh “This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise. Based on a complex, little-known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences.”
Le riprese cominceranno il 31 ottobre. Probabile che il film arriverà sugli schermi a Natale 2023.
