Dopo aver abbandonato Lisbeth Salander alla fine di Millennium – Uomini che odiano le donne di David Fincher, interpretata da Rooney Mara, nel 2011, la Sony ha deciso di rinunciare a portare sullo schermo gli altri due capitoli della trilogia originale e ricominciare dal quarto romanzo della serie.
Quello che non uccide (The Girl in the Spider’s Web) non è però firmato da Stieg Larsson, morto nel 2004, prima di conoscere l’enorme fortuna che i suoi romanzi avrebbero ottenuto nel mondo: è stato scritto invece da David Lagercrantz.
La regia è stata affidata all’uruguaiano Fede Alvarez, autore del remake di La casa e di Man in the Dark, mentre la protagonista sarà interpretata da Claire Foy, nota sinora, soprattutto per la serie The Crown.
La sceneggiatura è stata scritta da Jay Basu e Steven Knight (La promessa dell’assassino, Locke).
