La notizia è piuttosto gustosa: Adam Wingard ha spiegato ad Empire che il protagonista del prossimo sequel di Face/Off sarà ancora Nicolas Cage.
Ritornato in auge, grazie ai successi indie di Mandy, Pig e The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, l’attore, che pure sembrava essere escluso da potenziali sequel, in ragione di quello che accadeva nel primo film, sarà certamente interprellato per tornare ad interpretare il criminale Castor Troy.
Wingard ha spiegato: “He’s just having such a moment. Even before ‘Pig’ came out, we saw this as a Nicolas Cage movie. That’s become totally the obvious way to go now. A couple of years ago, the studio maybe would have wanted a hot, young, up-and-coming actor or something. Now, Nicolas Cage is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood again.”
Il copione di Face/Off 2 sarà scritto assieme a Simon Barrett. La Paramount pare abbia dato ai due massima libertà e pieni poteri: “This is 100 percent our story and our script. We’re making a sequel. But that’s the exciting part about it, that it’s our version of what would happen after ‘Face/Off,’ 20-plus years later.”
