Sarà Taika Waititi il bulimico regista di Thor: Ragnarok e Jojo Rabbit a dirigere l’adattamento della graphic novel di Moebius e Jodorowsky, L’Incal.
Il regista neozelandese pare stia lavorando con Jemaine Clement e Peter Warren all’adattamento: “The films and graphic novels of Alejandro Jodorowsky have influenced me and so many others for so long,” said Waititi. “I was stunned to be given the opportunity to bring his iconic characters to life and I am grateful to Alejandro, Fabrice and everyone at Humanoids for trusting me to do so.”
Jodorowsky si è detto felice che sia Waititi a lavora al progetto: “When Humanoids’ CEO Fabrice Giger introduced me to Taika Waititi’s work, it became obvious to me that he was the one. I fully trust Taika’s creativity to give ‘The Incal’ a stunning take, intimate and at the same time of cosmic proportions.”
Jodowowsky e Moebius si erano conosciuti durante la lunga preparazione di Dune, il progetto che il regista dovette alla fine abbandonare.
I due decisero tuttavia di continuare a collaborare e nacque L’Incal.
Waititi tuttavia è impegnatissimo al momento. Sta terminando la commedia sul calcio Next Goal Wins, sta montando per la Marvel Thor: Love and Thunder.
Si è parlato di lui per un live action di Akira, per il sequel di What We Do in the Shadows intitolato We’re Wolves, ha almeno 3 o 4 serie per Netflix e HBO Max da scrivere e produrre ed è stato contattato dalla Kennedy per dirigere un nuovo Star Wars.
