Bisogna dire con onestà che la saga di Terminator ci ha regalato due primi episodi straordinari, firmati da James Cameron, con il secondo che è stato una pietra miliare nell’animazione computerizzata degli anni ’90 assieme a Jurassic Park, seguiti da sequel talmente orrendi e improbabili, da ammazzare la saga più volte, in modo sempre più barbaro e definitivo.
Eppure, come una fenice, Terminator risorge sempre dalle sue ceneri e questa volta Cameron, Skydance e la Paramount, si sono messi d’impegno, per evitare altre figure di merda.
Terminator: Dark Fate si riconnetterà direttamente al secondo episodio, tralasciando tutto quello che è accaduto dopo. La regia è stata affidata a Tim Miller (Deadpool), rientrerà Linda Hamilton nei panni di Sarah Connor e ci saranno anche Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, Diego Boneta e l’immancabile Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Il film uscirà il 1 novembre 2019 e Miller sembra entusiasta del risultato: “Because so much of the film takes place on the messy fringes of society, I wanted to bring an indie film sensibility to an action plot in a way that I don’t think I’ve seen before[…] What makes or breaks a movie is whether I care about the characters when everything starts exploding. I’m sure every action filmmaker says that, but I did really try and focus on the relationships of these characters to one another. And the fact that Linda came back makes this particular ‘Terminator’ fresh, this story could only continue with her in the role of Sarah Conner. That’s the most important thing for me. Linda reinvented this character in a way that both honors who she was before and brings something new to the role.”
