I produttori di Mandy, il film di Panos Cosmatos che ha visto il ritorno prepotente di Nicolas Cage almeno in un contesto d’essai, con un B-movie puro e d’atmosfera, hanno deciso di adattare un racconto di H.P.Lovecraft, Color Out of Space.
Interpretato di nuovo da Cage, il film sarà diretto dall’australiano Richard Stanley, che ha diretto il cult Hardware e scritto L’isola perduta con Brando e lo stava dirigendo, prima di venire licenziato via fax e sostituito con Frankenheimer.
“‘Color Out of Space’ is a story of cosmic terror about The Gardners, a family who moves to a remote farmstead in rural New England to escape the hustle of the 21st century. They are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard. The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly color. To their horror, the Gardner family discover that this alien force is gradually mutating every life form that it touches…including them.”
Accanto a Cage ci saranno anche Joely Richardson, Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight, Julian Hilliard, e Q’Orianka Kilcher.
Le riprese cominceranno il mese prossimo: potrebbe arrivare sugli schermi tra fine 2019 e inizio 2020.
