Nuovo progetto per George Clooney e Grant Heslov. I due partner hanno intenzione di scrivere un adattamento dal romanzo The Monuments Men – Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History di Robert M. Edsel, ambientato durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
Il film seguirà un gruppo di undici civili, storici, direttori di musei americani e britannici, esperti d’arte, sbarcati in Normandia per trovare e recuperare le opere d’arte rubate dai nazisti. Uno di loro si innamorerà di Rose Valland, una eroina della resistenza francese che li aiuterà a rintracciare i luoghi dove i nazisti avevano nascosto i tesori rubati.
Clooney dirigerà il film ed interpreterà uno dei protagonisti: la produzione di Monuments Men potrà contare su un budget considerevole, garantito dalla Sony.
