Il sequel di Shining, firmato da Stephen King nel 2013, arriverà al cinema grazie alla Warner Bros e a Mike Flanagan, che ha scritto e diretto l’adattamento, a partire dal 30 ottobre prossimo.
Doctor Sleep è interpretato da Ewan McGregor nei panni di Danny Torrance, ormai adulto.
Accanto a lui Rebecca Ferguson e la giovanissima Kyliegh Curran.
Si vedono ricostruite in alcuni flashback, scene del capolavoro di Kubrick, prima che Danny adulto sia letteralmente catapultato all’Overlook hotel.
Torna nel finale del trailer anche la musica elettronica di Wendy Carlos e Rachel Elkind, che apriva il film del 1980.
Nel nuovo poster campeggia la scritta Redrum, che rappresentava uno dei momenti di maggior tensione di Shining. Infatti, nonostante l’odio che Stephen King ha sempre manifestato per l’adattamento di Kubrick del suo romanzo, anche questo Doctor Sleep si muove all’interno dell’universo cinematografico creato dal regista newyorkese e non deve essere stato facile fare un sequel, costretto ad attingere da due fonti diverse, come il film e il libro.
Flanagan ha detto di aver avuto il via libera e il benestare da King dopo molte riunioni.
