Terry Gilliam ha rivelato in settimana che Stanley Kubrick avrebbe voluto affidargli la regia del sequel del Dottor Stranamore, intitolato “Son Of Strangelove”.
La notizia è stata accolta con lo scetticismo che si riserva alle spacconate che non possono più essere smentite. Ma spulciando nella New York Public Library, il Times ha trovato altre due appunti di Terry Southern sui dettagli di due progetti mai terminati, intitolati ”Turgidson’s Mother, or Into the Shaft!” e ”Muffley Strikes Back.”
Nulla però a che vedere con “Son Of Strangelove”, che era invece il nome scherzoso che Arthur Clarke aveva affibbiato a 2001 nelle prime fasi della lavorazione pensando che potesse essere “an extension of Kubrick’s previous film and intended to emphasize terrestrial themes in which nuclear bombs orbited the Earth only to be detonated by the Star-Child in an act of cosmic purification… but Kubrick steered the film version… toward an emphasis on mythic journeys and transformations”.
