Nella solita messe infinita di premi, divisi in infinite categorie televisive sono soprattutto tre i vincitori della serata: Adolescence di Philip Barantini (Netflix) per le limited series, The Studio di Seth Rogen e Evan Goldberg (Apple) per le commedie e a sorpresa The Pitt di R. Scott Gemmill (HBO Max) per le serie drammatiche.
Adolescence ha vinto 6 premi, tutti quelli della sua categoria, per la regia di Barantini, per tutti e tre gli attori protagonisti compreso il piccolo Owen Cooper, il più giovane vincitore di sempre. Tre premi li ha ritirati personalmente Stephen Graham, miglior attore, produttore e co-sceneggiatore della serie.
L’unico premio di categoria andato ad altri è quello a Cristin Milioti per The Penguin.
E’ stata la grande serata di Seth Rogen che ha vinto personalmente tutti e 4 i premi di The Studio, il miglior attore, la regia, la scrittura e per la miglior serie comica dell’anno. E’ un record nella storia degli Emmy.
La vittoria di The Pitt (3 premi), una serie ambientata nel pronto soccorso di un ospedale di Pittsbourgh con Noah Wyle come protagonista – già oggetto di accuse degli eredi di Michael Crichton per plagio di un’idea nata ai tempi di E.R. – è stata francamente inattesa.
In Italia è trasmessa da Sky, ma rispetto ai colossi che gareggiavano in quella categoria sembrava il più classico vaso di coccio in mezzo a vasi ferro. E invece forse proprio la dispersione dei voti fra gli altri agguerritissimi competitors l’ha premiato.
Escono un po’ ammaccati sia Andor, sia Severance, favoriti della vigilia che si devono accontentare dei premi per la sceneggiatura di Dan Gilroy il primo e dei premi agli attori Britt Lower e Tramell Tillman il secondo. La migliore regia di una serie drammatica va invece a Adam Randall per la quarta stagione di Slow Horses.
Ovazione per Stephen Colbert, vincitore con il suo Late Show, chiuso dalla CBS dopo l’acquisto da parte di Skydance.
