Il prossimo mese di maggio la Criterion pubblicherà un nuovo blu-ray di Velluto blu, il film scandalo di David Lynch del 1986 con Denis Hopper, Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan e Laura Dern.
Tra i contenuti speciali ci saranno ben 51 minuti di scene inedite, tra cui una nuova introduzione del protagonista, molto più oscura di quella idilliaca che apre il film.
Secondo quello che aveva dichiarato Lynch, qualche anno fa: “You know, there is a thing called b-negative, or outtakes, or lifts, that don’t make it into the film. And in the old days, those things sat around and maybe became dangerously close to being tossed away. So, one day I looked into seeing where the [‘Blue Velvet’] lifts were because some of these scenes on their own would be beautiful to see again . . . Lately, those have been found. Somewhere up in Seattle. It’s incredible. I’m seeing stuff I thought was gone forever.”
Un buon motivo per rivedere il capolavoro di David Lynch.
